Weeks 2 and 3, house 1

I have been a bit slack with my updates, but for very good reason! I have been working my butt off :).

Well it turns out the plaster guy that I thought was going to be great - is not! He gave me a price, and we agreed that I would call him after the electrical and plumbing were done and he would give me a final estimate. He has gone MIA since then! Ugh! I have reached out to every plaster guy I could find. A lot of no call backs. And the one guy who did come out wanted to charge me $34,000!! I told him that is almost half of what I paid for the house. It looks like even though I hate it, I will be dry walling over these walls with 1/4 inch dry wall.

Onto more positive notes. Over the past two weeks I have:

  1. Emptied the house of its contents - put a number of personal items on the lawn, such as sofas, which were quickly picked up! We are using some of Ms. Gladys' dishes at our house! And Emma is using her old record player. Mischa was so excited to score that!

  2. Demo - Kitchen completely gutted and bathroom tile removed.

  3. Electrical - Almost ready for inspection.

  4. Plumbing - Almost ready for inspection.

  5. Roof - New one installed. Check!

  6. Found the contractor to paint and do interior work.

  7. Tile guy secured.

  8. Landscaping - Yes, on their fall break my children are clearing Ms. Glady's yard! I am making them official employees, so that I can setup Roth IRAs for them now :). And Max just asked me if he is going to get an expense account. Gotta love it!

Oh, and drum roll, I failed to mention that I have house 2 under contract! I can't jinx it until it closes, but I can't wait to share more about that soon!
