Get off your butt! Love, Dad

Aug 22, 2016 I was on the phone with my mom, when my dad asked her to pass the phone. I adore my dad, but most communication in our family gets to my dad via my mom. Mom is the hub. So I knew something was up when my dad requested to speak with me directly. "You are my worker, when are you going to get off your butt and do something?" Yes, my dad is very good at being blunt!

My first day of not earning an income was July 1, 2016. Thanks to some savings and planning, I have worked a time of transition and learning into my plan. I spent the month of July simply enjoying the summer with my children, ages 9 and 13. This is something that I have NEVER done before! So I relished every second!

Aug 3, 2016 school started. That means I had no other excuse, but to start working on my plan to earn an income! As my dad said, I am a "worker". I forged my birth certificate so I could start working at Burger King at the age of 15. And at times have had three jobs at once! This quitting my job and taking time to learn was something very foreign to me, and even more foreign to my dad!

With the help of Georgia Real Estate Investing Association, Bigger Pockets, my brother's advice and JScott, I have realized that in order to have an income to replace my salary, I must start with flips. Once I have done a few flips, onto rentals and maybe some renovations. I have been spending my days reading, attending GA REIA meetings, driving around hoods and researching tools that will help me understand the properties I am looking at better. But have I yet to take any real action ! I am still in the planning phase. Yes, even after three weeks. I am not ready to move forward! BUT wait, I did secure a LLC name, and a domain. That is something, right? Up Atlanta Properties LLC, I am excited to be the person behind that name!
